The Malta Gaming Authority published a thematic review on October 27 looking at how its licensees detect, assess and escalate sports betting integrity concerns. Malta licenses many operators that serve markets worldwide, so its findings are read well beyond Europe.
The headline finding is that a low number of Suspicious Betting Reports is not automatically a failure. Some operators had reduced their exposure by capping stakes and removing events that are easy to manipulate, which leaves less to report.
The regulator still named areas to fix: documented escalation procedures, stronger human oversight of automated monitoring, and a consistent understanding of reporting duties. It said it will track whether licensees close those gaps.
